Penny Black's Guide To Going Green

Penny Black's Guide To Going Green

At Penny Black, we care about the planet and our impact upon it. We've only got one and it's important that we play our part in protecting it where we can.

We're constantly reviewing our processes and ways of working to ensure we are the best we can be at being kind to Mother Earth.

We're dedicated to working sustainably and we aim to become as environmentally friendly as we can through the following steps:

Cardboard Recycling - We Love It! | Penny Black

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

We work with a local waste management company to ensure all of our cardboard, paper, plastic and metal is recycled. We also reuse cardboard packaging, bubble wrap and filler materials wherever possible - any plastic you receive in your order has been recycled!

Energy Efficient Lighting In Our Stores | Penny Black

Energy Efficiency In Our Stores

We use energy efficient lighting in our stores and recycle used lighting and batteries responsibly and safely.

Organic Please!

Our staff uniforms are made from sustainably-sourced organic materials.

Zero Single Use Plastic

Our stores only issue paper and 100% compostable carrier bags. We are gradually losing all plastic cello bags from our greetings cards and our goal is to be plastic packaging-free by 2025.

Sustainably Sourced Paper Products At Penny Black

Responsibly-Sourced Products

Our greetings cards range includes only products made from FSC approved board - paper that comes from responsibly managed forests. We also aim to source products manufactured in the UK wherever possible.

Our giftwrap range is produced sustainably and responsibly. For more information on how that is achieved, have a read our blog post about our eco-friendly giftwrap here.

Goodbye Non-Biodegradable Glitter | Penny Black

Goodbye Non-Biodegradable Glitter!

We're working with our suppliers to say goodbye to glitter that's not biodegradable so we can have all of the sparkle with none of the elements that can be harmful to the planet.
